jira-ticket-pane

jira-ticket-panev0.4.0MIT

A pane beside the transcript that fetches one Jira issue by key and lets you attach it to your next prompt.

Install

claude plugin marketplace add meganemura/jira-ticket-pane
claude plugin install jira-ticket-pane@jira-ticket-pane

jira-ticket-pane is a Claude Code plugin, a Claude Mod. It works only in Claude Code, in a terminal session or in the Code tab of Claude Code Desktop. /jira DEMO-1 fetches one Jira issue from an MCP server already connected to the session and draws it in a pane beside the transcript. The fetch runs inside the plugin, never as part of a model turn, and a button attaches the issue text to the next prompt as context.

  • One issue by key. /jira <KEY> fetches the issue and opens the pane, /jira alone shows or hides the pane, and ↻ <HH:MM> fetches the issue again. The plugin polls nothing on a timer.
  • Two tabs. Under a header with the key, summary, status, type, priority, and assignee, the issue tab shows the description and the meta tab shows the fields and the raw JSON.
  • Attach as context. attach arms the issue text, its label reads attached ✓, and the text drops once a prompt goes out. The plugin fits the text into the room left in the prompt’s 32,000-character context budget.
  • The tool, found at run time. The plugin looks for an MCP tool whose name contains “jira”, “issue”, and one of “get”, “fetch”, “read”, or “show”. /jira config server=<name> tool=<name> pins a server and tool, and /jira config clear returns to the search.
  • Fixture mode. JIRA_TICKET_PANE_FIXTURE=<dir> reads <dir>/<KEY>.json in place of a call to a real MCP server.
  • Read only. The plugin does not write to Jira, fetches one issue at a time, and leaves authentication to the MCP server.

The model sees the issue only when you attach it. After you press attach, the issue text goes with your next prompt as context, cut to whole lines with a note at the end when it does not fit. The fetch itself never runs as part of a model turn.

jira-ticket-pane needs Claude Code with CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1, and an MCP server connected to the session with a tool that reads Jira issues. Its CI pins Claude Code 2.1.280.

Terminal window
claude plugin marketplace add meganemura/jira-ticket-pane
claude plugin install jira-ticket-pane@jira-ticket-pane

In the Code tab of Claude Code Desktop, a plugin installed at the user scope with these commands loads too. /plugin does not run in the desktop app, so to install from the app, click + beside the prompt box, then Plugins, then Add marketplace with meganemura/jira-ticket-pane, then Add plugin.

Then run /jira <KEY> in a session.
